United Christian Church (UCC) is committed to fostering a vibrant, connected church family through our Area-Wise Small Group Meetings (SGMs). These gatherings bring people together in smaller, more intimate settings, allowing for deeper relationships, mutual encouragement, and spiritual growth. Small groups are essential for building a mature, united church body, and they play a crucial role in fulfilling UCC’s mission and vision.

Purpose of UCC Small Groups

Each UCC Small Group is designed with key goals in mind:

A group of people of South Asian descent gathered in a living room. A man stands and speaks while holding a book as others sit and listen attentively.

Fostering Biblical Love

Encouraging members to live out Christ’s commandment to love one another, building strong, supportive relationships.

A group of people gathered in a living room for a music session, with some singing into microphones and a man playing a keyboard.

Promoting Fellowship and Unity

Creating a safe space for genuine connections and shared faith experiences.

A man in a blue shirt and glasses leads a Bible study, reading from a book to a group of people seated on couches in a home living room.

Building a Mature Body

Helping members grow in spiritual maturity and become more like Christ through study, prayer, and support.

A man with a beard sits on a brick hearth, holding an acoustic guitar and writing on sheet music in a cozy living room.

Nurturing Spiritual Gifts

Providing opportunities for members to discover and develop their unique spiritual gifts and use them to serve God and the church.

Meeting Times and Group Locations

Our Small Groups are organized by area, allowing members to connect with others who live nearby. This structure helps build stronger connections and supports the development of relationships that extend beyond the church walls. Each month, groups meet on the 2nd Saturday at 6:30 PM, and are divided into two main regional groups:

East Group

Serving members from Wylie, Sachse, Rowlett, and Royse City.

This area-based structure helps ensure that everyone can connect with others from their local community, making it easier to offer support and fellowship.

Small Group Meeting Format

Each small group meeting follows a structured format to ensure a balanced and enriching experience. Meetings are designed to last between 90 minutes and two hours, providing time for worship, study, sharing, and fellowship. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A warm, informal welcome to set a comfortable tone for the gathering.
  • A time of worship through songs, preparing hearts and minds to receive God’s Word.
  • The Bible study portion is designed to complement the corporate teaching from the weekend service. While it doesn’t duplicate the sermon, it reinforces its core message and encourages members to explore the Word of God more deeply.
  • This time emphasizes active participation, as members are encouraged to engage in Word-centered conversations. The goal is for each person to grow in their understanding of Scripture through both hearing (corporate teaching) and discussion (small group interaction).
  • Members are invited to share personal reflections, insights from their own Bible readings, evangelism efforts, or special prayer requests.
  • This time allows for sharing and support as members bear one another’s burdens and celebrate one another’s joys in prayer.
  • Fellowship is a key part of small group gatherings. Preplanned snacks or a meal are served to create a warm, communal environment.
  • This time allows members to connect on a personal level, fostering one-on-one and group discussions where they can get to know each other more deeply and share the love of Christ.
  • The meeting closes with a prayer, along with a brief discussion of any upcoming plans or group vision.
  • Members are encouraged to think about outreach opportunities and ways to invite unbelievers to join future gatherings.
